Description
Ventolin Respirator Solution (Salbutamol) is a bronchodilator. It is typically used to treat or prevent sudden worsening of shortness of breath and wheezing (bronchospasm) in patients with asthma (a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus), and prevent shortness of breath during exercise. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Ventolin Respirator Solution (Salbutamol) is typically inhaled as needed. You can repeat the dose every 4 to 6 hours. A maximum of 4 inhalations in a 24 hour period is allowed. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Dilute the solution in 2 to 5 mL or more of sterile normal saline (a sterilized mixture of water and salt). Adjust the nebulizer flow to deliver the dosage over 5 to 15 minutes, avoid contact of the dropper tip (multidose bottle) with any surface, including the nebulizer reservoir and associated ventilator equipment. Use a mask device if the patient is unable to hold the mouthpiece in the mouth for administration. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Occasionally, inhaled medications such as this product may cause the airways to spasm and close up, making breathing even more difficulty (bronchospasm) and can be life-threatening. Use with caution in patients with diabetes (may increase blood sugar level), hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid, a gland in the neck), or seizure disorders. In addition to its desired action, Ventolin Respirator Solution (Salbutamol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause excitement, nervousness, trembling, or palpitations (rapid heartbeat). It may cause dizziness, headache, or trouble sleeping. It may cause infections of the respiratory tract (e.g., sore throat), increase blood pressure, chest pain, or nausea. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Salbutamol or any component of the formulation. Taking Ventolin Respirator Solution (Salbutamol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Ventolin Respirator Solution (Salbutamol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Ventolin Respirator Solution (Salbutamol)
