Description
Rybelsus (Semaglutide) is glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It is typically used to improve blood sugar levels by adults with type 2 diabetes (a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high). It is also used for chronic weight management in addition to reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults who are overweight and have weight-related health problems, or who are obese. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Rybelsus (Semaglutide) is typically taken once a day. The starting dose is one 3 mg tablet once a day for 30 days. After 30 days of 3 mg once a day, your doctor will increase your dose to 7 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase your dose to 14 mg once a day if your blood sugar is not controlled well enough with a dose of 7 mg once a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Take your tablet on an empty stomach and swallow it whole with a sip of water (up to 120 ml). Do not split, crush or chew the tablet. After taking your Rybelsus tablet wait at least 30 minutes before you have your first meal or drink of the day or taking other oral medicines. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: If you use this medicine in combination with a sulfonylurea or insulin, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) may occur which may reduce your ability to concentrate. Avoid driving or using machines if you get any signs of low blood sugar. If you could become pregnant while using Rybelsus, it is recommended to use contraception. During treatment with this medicine, you may feel sick (nausea) or be sick (vomiting), or have diarrhea. These side effects can cause dehydration (loss of fluids). It is important that you drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. This is especially important if you have kidney problems. In addition to its desired action, Rybelsus (Semaglutide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting), diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, feeling weak or tired, headache. It may cause reflux or heartburn, or change in the way food or drink tastes. It may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) when this medicine is used with insulin or sulfonylureas. It may cause an increase of pancreatic enzymes (such as lipase and amylase) shown in blood tests. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any component of the formulation, if you or a member of your family has ever had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), pregnancy, breastfeeding. Taking Rybelsus (Semaglutide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Rybelsus (Semaglutide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Rybelsus (Semaglutide)
