Description
Lamisil (Terbinafine) is an antifungal agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of fungal infections of the skin and nails. It may also have other uses.

Lamisil (Terbinafine) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. The scored tablets are taken orally with water. They should preferably be taken at the same time each day and can be taken on an empty stomach or after a meal. WARNING: Terbinafine tablets are not recommended for people with chronic (long-term) or active liver disease. Decreased liver function can cause terbinafine to build up in the body, causing side effects including further liver damage. Your doctor may order liver function tests before you start and while you are taking terbinafine tablets. During treatment with terbinafine, report to your doctor any signs or symptoms of liver problems including unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, yellowing of skin or eyes, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, dark urine, pale stools, or itching. The kidneys are partially responsible for removing terbinafine from the body. Decreased kidney function may cause terbinafine to build up in the body causing side effects. If you have decreased kidney function, discuss with your doctor how Lamisil (Terbinafine) may affect your medical condition. In addition to its desired action, Lamisil (Terbinafine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, heartburn. It may cause pruritus (itching), skin rash, urticaria (hives) It may cause diarrhea, dysgeusia (a bad taste in the mouth), dyspepsia (indigestion). It may increased sensitivity to the sun. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any component of the formulation, chronic or active hepatic (liver) disease Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Lamisil (Terbinafine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
