Kadcyla (Trastuzumab Emtansine) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of breast cancer. It may also have other uses.

Kadcyla (Trastuzumab Emtansine) is typically used every 3 weeks. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Kadcyla (Trastuzumab Emtansine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use caution when administering with antiplatelet agents or anticoagulants (agents that reduce blood clotting), consider additional monitoring when indicated. Use with caution in patient with hepatic (liver) problems. In addition to its desired action, Kadcyla (Trastuzumab Emtansine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dry mouth, fever, frequent urge to urinate, headache. It may cause loss of appetite, lower back or side pain, mood changes. It may cause muscle pain, nausea, sleeping disorder. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to trastuzumab emtansine or any component of the formulation. Taking Kadcyla (Trastuzumab Emtansine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Kadcyla (Trastuzumab Emtansine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
