Description

Retin A Micro (Tretinoin) is a topical anti-acne agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of acne. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Retin A Micro (Tretinoin) is typically applied once daily to acne lesions before bedtime or in the evening. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. The area of application should be thoroughly cleansed with a mild soap and water and patted dry with a soft towel. Apply a small amount (about the size of a pea) on your fingertip and spread it on the skin where acne lesions appear. Use only enough medication to cover the affected areas lightly. Avoid rubbing the medication into the skin.
WARNING: Avoid contact with the eyes, eyelids, angles of the nose, mouth, easily irritated areas, or other areas where treatment is not intended. Tretinoin should not be applied to severely inflamed skin or to open lesions. Avoid applying more of Retin A Micro (Tretinoin) than is recommended or applying it more often than recommended by your doctor. This will irritate your skin and will not cause the acne to clear up any faster. Use is associated with increased susceptibility/sensitivity to UV light, avoid or minimize excessive exposure to sun lamps or sunlight. Daily sunscreen (SPF ≥15) use and other protective measures (e.g., clothing over treated areas) are recommended. Use with caution in patients with personal or family history of skin cancer.
In addition to its desired action, Retin A Micro (Tretinoin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause stinging of the skin, local dryness, hypopigmentation (a condition in which the skin is lighter in color than normal)
It may cause application site erythema (superficial reddening of the skin) application site irritation, application site pruritus (itching), application site burning
It may cause application site dermatitis (a condition of the skin in which it becomes red, swollen, and sore, sometimes with small blisters, resulting from direct irritation of the skin by an external agent or an allergic reaction to it), application site pain Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tretinoin or any component of the formulation.
Taking Retin A Micro (Tretinoin) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
A treatment with Retin A Micro (Tretinoin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Retin A Micro (Tretinoin)
