Description

Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) is a corticosteroid agent. It is typically used to treat sneezing, itching, and runny nose caused by seasonal allergies. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) is typically used as two sprays in each nostril once daily (For adults and children 12 years of age and older) and once spray in each nostril once a day (for children 4 to 12 years of age). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Shake well prior to use. Gently blow nose to clear nostrils. Avoid spraying into mouth or eyes and do not blow nose for 15 minutes after use. Prime prior to first use by shaking contents well and releasing 5 sprays into the air.
WARNING: Long-term use of corticosteroids such as triamcinolone nasal spray may cause glaucoma or cataracts. Report any vision changes to your doctor immediately. Corticosteroids such as triamcinolone can reduce the ability of wounds to heal. If you have ulcers in your nose, have had nasal surgery, or have had nasal trauma, talk to your doctor about how Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) will affect these conditions. People with an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism), may experience increased effects of Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone). If you are hypothyroid or are being monitored for thyroid function, discuss with your doctor how Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) may affect your medical condition. Corticosteroids such as triamcinolone nasal spray may worsen existing infections, mask the signs of infection, and cause new infections. If you use Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) for several months or longer, your doctor will monitor you periodically for signs of infection. In addition to its desired action, Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx, which is in the back of the throat).
It may cause pain, skin rash, weight gain, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to triamcinolone or any component of the formulation
Taking Nasacort AQ (Triamcinolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
