Description
Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination of two diuretic agents (water pills). It is typically used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or edema (swelling). It may also have other uses.

Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide) is typically taken once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the whole tablet. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. Do not chew or crush Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide). If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: This medication may cause an abnormal increase in the levels of potassium in the blood (hyperkalemia). This is more likely to occur in patients with kidney impairment, diabetes, or elderly or severely ill patients. Use with caution in patients with diabetes as it may increase blood sugar levels, and in patients with liver or kidney disease. In addition to its desired action, Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause muscle cramps, spasms, and pain, weakness, or restlessness. It may cause dizziness, pins and needles sensations in your fingers, or headaches. It may cause constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, upset stomach, or dry mouth. It may cause reduced libido (sexual drive). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Hydrochlorothiazide, Triamterene, sulfonamide-derived drugs, or any component of the formulation. Patients who suffer from anuria (failure of the kidneys to produce urine), kidney insufficiency or significant kidney impairment should not use this drug. Patients receiving other potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that keep potassium in the body), potassium-containing products, or potassium supplements (except in severe cases of hypokalemia, low levels of potassium in the blood) should not use this drug. Patients who suffer from pre-existing hyperkalemia should not use Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide). Taking Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Triazide (Triamterene Hydrochlorothiazide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
