Description
PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol) is a gallstone dissolution agent. It is typically used to treat a group of conditions known as cholestatic liver diseases (e.g., primary biliary cirrhosis). Cholestatic liver diseases are characterized by a decrease in bile secretion and bile flow. It may also have other uses.

PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol)'s dosage depends on patient's body weight: 13-15 mg/kg/day administered in two to four divided doses with food. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Ursodiol is broken down by the liver. Liver disease or reduced liver function may cause PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol) to build up in the body, causing side effects and possibly worsening liver damage. If you have liver disease, discuss with your doctor how PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol), and whether any special monitoring is needed. Your doctor should order monthly liver function tests for the first 3 months you are taking PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol), and every 6 months after that. In addition to its desired action, PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may headache, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation and nausea. It may cause back pain and respiratory infections. It may cause high sugar blood levels, hair loss and skin rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to ursodiol or any component of the formulation, blockage of bile flow due to liver disease or other disease outside the liver. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with PMS Ursodiol C (Ursodiol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
