Description
Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) is an antihypertensive agent. The sustained release (SR) form of this medication is used for the treatment of mild-to-moderate high blood pressure. It may also have other uses.

Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) is typically taken once daily if the dose is 240 mg or less. Doses over 240 mg daily of the SR tablets should be taken in 2 divided doses (morning and evening) with food. Do not chew or crush the sustained-release tablets. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Liver disease or reduced liver function may cause Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) to build up in the body, causing side effects. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) impairment. Kidney disease or reduced kidney function may cause Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) to build up in the body, causing side effects. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. Use with caution in patients with neuromuscular diseases (Neuromuscular diseases affect the function of muscles due to problems with the nerves and muscles in your body). Use with caution in patients with cardiac (heart) conductions abnormalities. Low blood pressure symptoms have been reported following single doses and even after some months of treatment with verapamil. Use with caution in patients with low blood pressure. Use with caution in elderly population, and dose reduction might be a must sometimes. In addition to its desired action, Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headache, constipation, heartburn. It may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs. It may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing, slow heartbeat, nausea. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to verapamil or any component of the formulation, certain types of abnormal heart rhythms and heart conditions, severe low blood pressure, very low heart rate, concurrent use of ivabradine or flibanserin Taking Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Mylan Verapamil SR (Verapamil extended-release) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
