Description
Sabril (Vigabatrin) is an anticonvulsant agent. It is typically used is to treat infantile spasms (a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain) in babies and children between the ages of 1 month and 2 years. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
The total daily dose should be divided and administered on a twice daily basis and may be taken with or without food. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Sabril powder for oral solution should be mixed with water, fruit juice, milk or infant formula prior to administration. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with a history of psychosis (an abnormal condition of the mind that results in difficulties determining what is real and what is not real), depression, or behavioral problems. Kidney disease or reduced kidney function may cause this medication to build up in the body, causing side effects, use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause weight gain, skin rash, insomnia (difficulty falling asleep). It may cause constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, blurred vision. It may cause dizziness, upper respiratory tract infections. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to vigabatrin or any component of the formulation.
