Description
Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab) is a monoclonal antibody agent. It is typically used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (RMS) in adults and primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS) in adults. In these conditions, the immune system attacks the body’s nervous system. MS is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, causing symptoms like weakness, difficulty walking, and problems with vision. It may also have other uses.

Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab) is usually given as an infusion (slow injection into a vein) every six months. However, your doctor or pharmacist may suggest a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional. Do not receive more of this treatment or more often than prescribed. If you miss an appointment or dose, contact your healthcare provider. It will be given as an infusion into a vein by a healthcare professional. WARNING: Your healthcare provider may do certain tests before and during your treatment with OCREVUS. These tests may check: your blood counts, liver function, your immune system, and general health. In addition to its desired effects, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause infections, including upper respiratory infections, cold sores, or fungal infections. It may cause allergic reactions, headaches, or infusion-related reactions. Contraindications: Do not use this medication if you have a known allergy (hypersensitivity) to ocrelizumab or any of its ingredients. If you have severe, active infections, if you have active Hepatitis B virus infection (a liver infection), if you have or have had confirmed progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (a disease of the white matter of the brain, caused by a viral infection),if you have been told that you have severe problems with your immune system and if you have cancer. Taking this medication during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
