Description

Acetazolamide (Acetazolamide) is an anticonvulsant agent. It is typically used to reduce the pressure in the eye for people with certain types of glaucoma (elevated eye pressure). It is also sometimes used to treat epilepsy. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Acetazolamide (Acetazolamide) is usually taken twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food.

WARNING: Use with caution in the elderly as they may be more sensitive to side effects. This drug may impair physical or mental abilities, patients must be cautioned about performing tasks that require mental alertness (e.g., operating machinery or driving). Use with caution in patient with kidneys, liver and respiratory disease.

In addition to its desired action, Acetazolamide (Acetazolamide) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause depression, dizziness, drowsiness, excitement and fatigue.
It may cause a decreased appetite, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and low sugar level.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergy to acetazolamide, sulfonamides (sulfadiazine, sulfamethizole), or any component of the formulation, liver, renal (kidney) and high pressure in the eye.

Taking Acetazolamide (Acetazolamide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.
