Description
Aczone (Dapsone) is an anti-acne topical agent. It is typically used for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients ≥12 years of age. It may also have other uses.

Aczone (Dapsone)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Localized discoloration (yellow or orange) of the skin or facial hair may occur. Do not use concomitantly with oral dapsone or other antimalarial agents due to increased risk of hemolytic reactions (a serious complication that can occur after a blood transfusion). These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Aczone (Dapsone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause sinusitis (inflammation of sinuses) and application site rash It may cause erythema (superficial reddening of the skin, usually in patches, as a result of injury or irritation causing dilatation of the blood capillaries), facial edema (water retention) and lip edema (water retention). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to dapsone or any component of the formulation or container. Taking Aczone (Dapsone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Aczone (Dapsone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
