Description

Apo Lamivudine (Lamivudine) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used in combination with other antiviral agents to help control HIV infection, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Lamivudine (Lamivudine) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food.

WARNING: Remember that treatment with APO-LAMIVUDINE does not reduce the risk of passing the infection onto others. You will still be able to pass HIV by sexual contact or by blood transfer and you should use appropriate precautions. Your blood sugar levels (glucose) or levels of fats (lipids) in your blood may increase with HIV treatment. Your doctor may order blood tests for you. If you also have a hepatitis B infection, you should not stop taking APO-LAMIVUDINE without instructions from your doctor as your hepatitis may worsen/reoccur. It is recommended that HIV-infected women do not breastfeed their infants in order to avoid transmission of HIV from mother to child. The active substance in APO-LAMIVUDINE is also found in human breast milk. You are recommended not to breastfeed your baby while taking the drug.

In addition to its desired action, Apo Lamivudine (Lamivudine) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause water retention, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea.
It may cause low blood pressure, cold extremities, difficulty sleeping.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to lamivudine or any component of the formulation.

Taking Apo Lamivudine (Lamivudine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Apo Lamivudine (Lamivudine) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
