Description
Apo Lovastatin (Lovastatin) is an anticholesterol agent. It is typically used for the treatment of high cholesterol levels in the blood. It is also used to slow the progression of coronary atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries in the heart). It may also have other uses.

Apo Lovastatin (Lovastatin) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with the evening meal. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with advanced age, these patients are predisposed to myopathy (any disease that affects the muscles that control voluntary movement in the body) In addition to its desired action, Apo Lovastatin (Lovastatin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause muscle pain, increase in creatine phosphokinase (injury or stress to muscle tissue, the heart, or the brain) It may cause headaches, dizziness, skin rash, flatulence (gas), constipation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea It may cause weakness, muscle cramps Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to lovastatin or any component of the formulation, active liver disease, unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases (liver damage), concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, nefazodone, posaconazole, voriconazole, protease inhibitors [including boceprevir and telaprevir], telithromycin, cobicistat-containing products, pregnancy, breastfeeding. Taking Apo Lovastatin (Lovastatin) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Lovastatin (Lovastatin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
