Description

Apo Mycophenolic Acid (Mycophenolate Sodium) is an immunosuppressant agent. It is typically used for the prevention of organ rejection in patients receiving kidneys, heart, or liver transplants, in combination with other immunosuppressants (similar agents). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Mycophenolic Acid  (Mycophenolate Sodium)'s dosage depends on the condition (usual range: 500 mg - 3 g). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 hours after food intake. Tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed, cut, or chewed

WARNING: Risk for bacterial, viral, fungal, and protozoan (parasite) infections, including opportunistic infections (an infection caused by an organism that does not normally cause disease) and viral reactivation of hepatitis B and C (reappearance of a virus causing liver problems), is increased with immunosuppressant therapy

In addition to its desired action, Apo Mycophenolic Acid  (Mycophenolate Sodium) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause edema (swelling), hypertension (high blood pressure), hypotension (low blood pressure), lower extremity edema (swelling), tachycardia (rapid heart rate)
It may cause cellulitis (deep infection of the skin caused by bacteria), ecchymosis (a discoloration of the skin resulting from bleeding underneath, typically caused by bruising), skin rash 
It may cause acidosis (a condition in which there is too much acid in the body fluids), hypercholesterolemia (high blood cholesterol), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), hyperkalemia (high blood potassium)
It may cause abdominal pain, constipation, decreased appetite 

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to mycophenolate mofetil, mycophenolic acid, mycophenolate sodium, or any component of the formulation. Pregnancy, women of childbearing potential and not using highly effective contraceptive methods, women of childbearing potential not providing a pregnancy test result, breastfeeding.

Taking Apo Mycophenolic Acid  (Mycophenolate Sodium) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
