Description

Apo Pioglitazone (Pioglitazone) is an antidiabetic agent. It is typically used along with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It works by lowering your blood sugar. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Pioglitazone (Pioglitazone) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered without regard to meals.
WARNING: Avoid use of Pioglitazone in patients with active bladder cancer and consider risks versus benefits prior to initiating therapy in patients with a history of bladder cancer. Use with caution in patients with edema (swelling). May cause or exacerbate heart failure, closely monitor for signs and symptoms of heart failure (e.g., rapid weight gain, dyspnea, edema), particularly after initiation or dose increases. In addition to its desired action, Apo Pioglitazone (Pioglitazone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause edema (swelling), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), upper respiratory tract infections. It may cause cardiac failure, headache, bone fracture, muscle pain, sinusitis (inflammation of a nasal sinus), pharyngitis (sore throat).
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Pioglitazone or any component of the formulation, NYHA Class III/IV heart failure (advanced heart disease)
Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
