Description
Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used for the treatment of the human immunodeficiency virus (a virus that attacks the body’s immune system) in patients 12 years of age and older. It is also used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection ( a viral infection that attacks the liver) in patients 18 years of age and older. It may also have other uses.

Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) is typically given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. WARNING: Tenofovir can cause kidney problems, including severe kidney damage and kidney failure. Your doctor may monitor your kidney function with blood tests while you are taking Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir). Kidney disease or reduced kidney function may cause Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) to build up in the body, causing increased side effects. If you have kidney disease or reduced kidney function, discuss with your doctor how Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) may affect your medical condition. This medication can cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis (buildup of lactic acid), together with an enlarged fatty liver. Your doctor will periodically monitor you and perform laboratory tests to check your liver function. If you notice any symptoms of this condition such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, weakness, tiredness, feeling cold, dizziness, lightheadedness, or irregular heartbeat, seek immediate medical attention. Tenofovir may reduce bone mineral density and should not be taken by anyone who is at risk for bone problems. In addition to its desired action, Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause fatigue, headache, depression, dizziness, loss of appetite. It may cause abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, muscle pain. It may cause bone pain, insomnia (inability to sleep at night) and skin rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tenofovir or any component of the formulation. Taking Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Tenofovir (Tenofovir) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
