Description
Auro Acyclovir (Acyclovir) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used for the treatment of initial and recurrent mucosal (the inner lining of some organs and body cavities) and cutaneous (skin) herpes simplex (viral) infections and varicella-zoster (shingles) infections in immunocompromised adults and children (those who have a weak immune system). It is also indicated for severe initial episodes of herpes simplex infections in patients who may not be immunocompromised (those who have a healthy immune system). It may also have other uses.

Auro Acyclovir (Acyclovir) is typically taken three times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your nurse or physician will administer Auro Acyclovir (Acyclovir) for you in a clinical or hospital setting. It is administered in the vein (intravenous (IV) infusion). WARNING: Intravenous infusions must be given over a period of at least 1 hour to reduce the risk of kidney damage. Kidney damage has occured with the use of Auro Acyclovir (Acyclovir). Because elderly patients are more likely to have decreased renal (kidney) function, care should be taken in dose selection, and it may be useful to monitor renal function. In addition to its desired action, Auro Acyclovir (Acyclovir) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches or weakness. It may cause inflammation or pain at the injection site, malaise, skin rash. It may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, increase in liver enzymes. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, valacyclovir, or any component of the formulation. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Auro Acyclovir (Acyclovir) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
