Description
Avonex (Interferon Beta-1A pen) is a biological response modulator agent. It is typically used for the treatment of patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis, including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and disabling disease caused by the body’s own defense system attacking and destroying the protective covering (myelin) surrounding nerve fibres. Interferon beta-1a works by slowing down the attack of the body’s defense cells on the nerves. It may also have other uses.
