Description
Backup plan onestep (Levonorgestrel) is a progestin-only emergency contraceptive agent. It is typically used for prevention of pregnancy following unprotected intercourse or a known or suspected contraceptive failure. It may also have other uses.

Backup plan onestep (Levonorgestrel) is typically used as one tablet taken orally as soon as possible within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. WARNING: Women who become pregnant or complain of lower abdominal pain after taking the pill should be evaluated for ectopic pregnancy (when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes). It is not effective in terminating an existing pregnancy. This drug may alter the next expected menses. If menses is delayed beyond 1 week, pregnancy should be considered. In addition to its desired action, Backup plan onestep (Levonorgestrel) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause heavier menstrual bleeding, nausea, lower abdominal pain It may cause fatigue, headache and dizziness Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to levonorgestrel or any component of the formulation, known or suspected pregnancy Taking Backup plan onestep (Levonorgestrel) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby.
