Description

Benzaclin (Clindamycin Benzoyl peroxide) is an anti-acne agent that contains an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat certain type of acne (skin condition that happens when hair follicles under the skin become clogged). It helps to decrease the number of acne pimples. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Benzaclin (Clindamycin Benzoyl peroxide) is typically used one to two times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Skin should be clean and dry before applying. For external use only, avoid applying to inside nose, mouth, eyes, vagina, mucous membranes, and on areas of broken skin.
WARNING: This agent may bleach hair, colored fabric, or carpeting. Discontinue drug if significant diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or passage of blood and mucus occurs. For external use only, not for vaginal or ophthalmic (eye) use. Avoid contact with mucous membranes. Inform patients to use skin protection and minimize prolonged exposure to sun and avoid tanning beds or sun lamps.
In addition to its desired action, Benzaclin (Clindamycin Benzoyl peroxide) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause dry skin, severe skin redness, burning, itching or tingly feeling
It may cause skin peeling, irritation, stinging Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, lincomycin, or any component of the formulation, history of regional enteritis (a condition in which the stomach or intestine area is inflamed over a long period of time), ulcerative colitis (abnormal condition, inflammation in the intestine), history of antibiotic-associated colitis (inflammation of the large intestine) Taking Benzaclin (Clindamycin Benzoyl peroxide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Benzaclin (Clindamycin Benzoyl peroxide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
