Description
Bezalip SR (Bezafibrate sustained-release) is an anticholesterol agent. It is typically used in addition to diet and other measures to treat high cholesterol and high levels of triglycerides, a type of lipid (fat). It may also have other uses.

Bezalip SR (Bezafibrate sustained-release) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Do not crush or chew sustained release tablet, should be swallowed whole with sufficient fluid. Administer with or after meals. WARNING: Use of sustained release tablets (release the contents steadily over a long period) is not recommended in elderly patients. Limited experience is available in children, therefore, caution should be used when treating children. Discontinue therapy if myopathy (disease that affects the muscles that control voluntary movement in the body) is diagnosed or if cholelithiasis (the presence of gallstones usually in the gallbladder) is diagnosed In addition to its desired action, Bezalip SR (Bezafibrate sustained-release) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, itching, hives, muscle pain, dizziness It may cause hair loss, impotence, fainting, fatigue, liver damage, headache Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to bezafibrate, fibrates, or any component of the formulation, photoallergic (sun poisoning) or phototoxic reactions to fibrates, liver impairment, patients undergoing dialysis, renal (kidney) impairment, pre-existing gallbladder disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, not indicated for the treatment of type I hyperlipoproteinemia (genetic cause of hypertriglyceridemia, meaning high levels of triglyceride) Taking Bezalip SR (Bezafibrate sustained-release) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Bezalip SR (Bezafibrate sustained-release) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
