Description
Brivlera (Brivaracetam) is an anticonvulsant agent (drugs that prevent or reduce the severity and frequency of seizures. Seizure is a sudden attack of brain activity that causes you to lose control of your actions). It is typically used to treat partial-onset seizures (partial onset seizure affects only a part of your brain) by adults and children who are at least 4 years old. It may also have other uses.

Brivlera (Brivaracetam) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Brivlera (Brivaracetam) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Brivaracetam may cause drowsiness or dizziness, affecting your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing other potentially hazardous tasks until you have determined how you are affected by Brivlera (Brivaracetam). A severe allergic reaction called hypersensitivity syndrome has occurred for some people with the use of brivaracetam. Stop taking the medication and get immediate medical attention if you have symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, including fever, swollen glands, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or flu-like symptoms with skin rash or blistering. Liver disease or reduced liver function may cause Brivlera (Brivaracetam) to build up in the body, causing side effect, use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. In addition to its desired action, Brivlera (Brivaracetam) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause drowsiness, fatigue, somnolence and sedation. It may cause asthenia (abnormal physical weakness or lack of energy), balance disturbances. It may cause nausea, vomiting, constipation. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to brivaracetam or any component of the formulation. Taking Brivlera (Brivaracetam) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Brivlera (Brivaracetam) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
