Description
Colestid Orange (Colestipol) is a cholesterol-lowering agent. It is typically used with a proper diet to lower cholesterol in the blood. It may also have other uses.

Colestid Orange (Colestipol) is typically used once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Do not administer in dry form. Colestid Granules should always be taken mixed in a liquid such as orange or tomato juice, water, skimmed milk or non-carbonated beverage. Colestid may also be taken in soups or with cereals, pulpy fruits with a higher water content or yoghurt. WARNING: Colestipol may cause or worsen pre-existing constipation. increase your fluid and fiber intake to prevent constipation, your doctor may also recommend a stool softener. In addition to its desired action, Colestid Orange (Colestipol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause bloating, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness. It may cause fatigue, gas, headache, heartburn, loss of appetite, nausea, rash. It may cause stomach pain, chest pain, vomiting, weakness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to colestipol or any component of the formulation. Taking Colestid Orange (Colestipol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Colestid Orange (Colestipol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
