Description
Combantrin (Pyrantel) is an anthelmintic agent (drug that acts against infections caused by parasitic worms (helminths)). It is typically used to to eliminate intestinal worms. It may also have other uses.

Combantrin (Pyrantel) is typically taken in a single dose. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It is to be used once and then again 14 days later. May be administered without regard to meals, may be taken with water, milk, or fruit juice. The use of a laxative is not required prior to, during, or after use. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) impairment. Do not use in children under 2 years of age. In addition to its desired action, Combantrin (Pyrantel) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal cramps, headache, dizziness It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea It may decrease your appetite Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to pyrantel or any component of the formulation Taking Combantrin (Pyrantel) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product.
