Description
Cyramza (Ramucirumab) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat advanced stomach cancer (also known as gastric cancer) and cancer of the gastroesophageal junction (part of the food tube just as it joins the stomach), either by itself or in combination with paclitaxel (another anticancer medicine), by adults whose disease has progressed despite prior treatment with chemotherapy. It may also have other uses.

Cyramza (Ramucirumab)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Cyramza (Ramucirumab) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Discontinue Ramucirumab permanently in patients who experience arterial thrombotic events (blood clots in the arteries). Discontinue Ramucirumab permanently in patients who experience stomach perforation. This drug is associated with high risk of hemorrhage (bleeding), it may also be the cause of exacerbate high blood pressure. Ramucirumab is associated with infusion-related reactions (may be severe), generally occurring with the first or second dose. Symptoms of infusion reactions have included chills, low blood pressure, shortness of breath and low oxygen levels in the tissues. Monitor thyroid (a gland in the neck) function during treatment. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Cyramza (Ramucirumab) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause high blood pressure, fatigue, headache and water retention in the stomach. It may cause insomnia (difficulty sleeping), dehydration, low sodium levels and low calcium levels. It may cause abdominal pain, decreased appetite, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and bleeding. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergic reaction) to Ramucirumab or any component of the formulation. Taking Cyramza (Ramucirumab) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Cyramza (Ramucirumab) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
