Description
Desipramine (Desipramine) is an antidepressant. It is typically used for the management of depression. It may also have other uses.

Desipramine (Desipramine)'s dosage depends on the condition (usual range: 25 mg - 300 mg). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food to decrease stomach and intestinal upset. WARNING: Antidepressants increase the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults (18 to 24 years of age) with major depressive disorder (MDD) and other psychiatric disorders. In addition to its desired action, Desipramine (Desipramine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dry mouth, weight gain It may cause constipation, headaches It may cause drowsiness or dizziness Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to desipramine or any component of the formulation, use of MAO inhibitors (other antidepressants) intended to treat psychiatric disorders (concurrently or within 14 days of stopping desipramine or an MAO inhibitor), initiation of desipramine in a patient receiving linezolid or intravenous methylene blue, use in a patient during the acute recovery phase of MI (heart attack) Taking Desipramine (Desipramine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Desipramine (Desipramine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
