Description
Dovonex (Calcipotriol) is an antipsoriatic agent. It is typically used to treat plaque psoriasis (psoriasis is a skin condition that can make parts or all of your skin red, thick, and flaky). It may also have other uses.

Dovonex (Calcipotriol) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Apply a thin layer of Dovonex to the affected and rub in gently and completely. Do not put this drug on the face. Wash your hands before and after use. WARNING: If This medication is typically used for severe psoriasis covering large areas or is used in excess of the maximum recommended weekly dose, there is a risk of developing high calcium levels in the blood. If the serum calcium level becomes elevated, calcipotriol therapy should be discontinued and the serum calcium level monitored in these patients until it returns to normal. In addition to its desired action, Dovonex (Calcipotriol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause burning, itching, skin irritation. It may cause dermatitis (skin inflammation), dry skin, erythema (redness of the skin). It may cause worsening of psoriasis, rash. Contraindications: If you are allergic to calcipotriol or any ingredients of Dovonex (Calcipotriol) Taking Dovonex (Calcipotriol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Dovonex (Calcipotriol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
