Description

Durezol (Difluprednate) is a corticosteroid agent. It is usually used to treat eye pain and inflammation caused by surgery. It also used to treat endogenous anterior uveitis (a form of eye inflammation). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Durezol (Difluprednate) is typically used four times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Wash hands prior to use and avoid touching tip of dropper. Remove contact lenses prior to use. Do not reinsert contact lenses within 10 minutes of difluprednate use. WARNING: Use extreme caution in patients with history of ocular herpes simplex (viral infection affecting the eyes caused by the herpes simplex virus). Use with caution in presence of glaucoma (a condition of increased pressure within the eyeball, causing gradual loss of sight).
In addition to its desired action, Durezol (Difluprednate) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause eye pain, ocular hyperemia (redness), photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light).
It may cause blurred vision, ophthalmic (eye) inflammation.
It may cause headaches.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to difluprednate, any component of the formulation, or to other corticosteroids. Active viral infections of the cornea (the transparent layer forming the front of the eye), fungal infection of eye structures, or mycobacterial (bacteria) eye infections. Taking Durezol (Difluprednate) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
A treatment with Durezol (Difluprednate) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Durezol (Difluprednate)
