Description

Efudex (Fluorouracile) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used for the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer) when conventional methods are impractical (e.g., due to multiple lesions or difficulty treatment sites). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Efudex (Fluorouracile)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food.
 
WARNING: Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight irradiation during treatment, reaction intensity may be increased. Discontinue immediately for signs of hypersensitivity (severe allergy). Avoid application to the eye area. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning.

In addition to its desired action, Efudex (Fluorouracile) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause application site dryness, stinging of the skin and skin erosion.
It may cause application site pain, headache, skin irritation and eye irritation.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to fluorouracil or any component of the formulation, dihydropyrimidine enzyme deficiency, patients who are or may become pregnant. Concurrent use with brivudine, sorivudine, and analogues, breastfeeding.

Taking Efudex (Fluorouracile) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Efudex (Fluorouracile) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Efudex (Fluorouracile)
