Description
Eligard 1 month (Leuprolide sustained-release) is an anticancer agent and a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. It is typically used for the palliative treatment of advanced prostate cancer. It may also have other uses.

Eligard 1 month (Leuprolide sustained-release) is typically taken monthly. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Leuprolide is given as an injection under the skin by your doctor. Depending on the dosage form used, it may be given once every 1, 3, 4, or 6 months. WARNING: This medication may increase the risk for cardiovascular disease. Sudden cardiac death and stroke have been reported In addition to its desired action, Eligard 1 month (Leuprolide sustained-release) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause edema (swelling), flushing, ischemia (a condition in which the blood flow (and thus oxygen) is restricted or reduced in a part of the body) It may cause diaphoresis (excessive sweating) It may cause decreased libido, hot flushes, increased serum cholesterol (23%), increased serum triglycerides Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to leuprolide, GnRH, GnRH-agonist analogs (similar agents), or any component of the formulation, pregnancy, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding Taking Eligard 1 month (Leuprolide sustained-release) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Eligard 1 month (Leuprolide sustained-release) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
