Description
Ella (Ulipristal) is an emergency contraception agent. It is typically used for prevention of pregnancy following unprotected intercourse or a known or suspected contraceptive failure.Ella is not intended for routine use as a contraceptive. It may also have other uses.

Ella (Ulipristal) is usually given once as soon as possible or within 120 hours or 5 days after unprotected intercourse. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may help reduce nausea. WARNING: If vomiting occurs within 3 hours of administration, consider repeating dose. This medication will not interrupt a pregnancy that is already established. It is not intended for use during pregnancy. Exclude pregnancy before administering. Ectopic pregnancy (when a fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus): Women who become pregnant or complain of lower abdominal pain after taking ella should be evaluated for ectopic pregnancy. This medication does not protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV or AIDS. For protection against these infections, latex condoms should be used. In addition to its desired action, Ella (Ulipristal) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, headache and pain during menstrual period. It may cause early menses, fatigue, dizziness, acne and bleeding between the periods. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to ulipristal or any component of the formulation, known or suspected pregnancy. Taking Ella (Ulipristal) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method.Pregnant women should not use this product.
