Engerix B (Hepatitis B vaccine) is typically taken as 3 total doses administered at 0, 1, and 6 months. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinical setting. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It will be injected into a muscle. WARNING: Syncope (fainting) has been reported with use of injectable vaccines and may result in serious secondary injury In addition to its desired action, Engerix B (Hepatitis B vaccine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness It may cause drowsiness, fever of 37.7°C (100°F) or higher It may cause hard lump, redness, swelling, pain, itching, purple spot, tenderness, or warmth at the place of injection Contraindications: Severe allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to yeast, hepatitis B vaccine, or any component of the formulation.
