Description

Epuris (Isotretinoin) is an anti-acne agent. It is typically used for the treatment of cystic acne (when you have large, red, painful breakouts deep in your skin). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Epuris (Isotretinoin) is typically used once or twice per day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer standard formulation with a meal. Capsules should be swallowed whole with a full glass of liquid, do not chew or suck on the capsule. WARNING: Avoid skin resurfacing procedures (e.g., dermabrasion, laser) and wax epilation during therapy and for ≥6 months after discontinuation of isotretinoin due to the risk of scarring. Isotretinoin causes birth defects in a large percentage of babies born to women who take Epuris (Isotretinoin) during pregnancy. Isotretinoin interacts with hormonal birth control (i.e., birth control pills), making it very important that women of childbearing age use an additional type of birth control. Two reliable forms of birth control should be used at the same time during treatment unless abstinence is the chosen method. Birth control must be used for at least one month before starting isotretinoin, during treatment with Epuris (Isotretinoin) and for at least one month after stopping the isotretinoin. Some people taking Epuris (Isotretinoin) have experienced depression, including thoughts of suicide. If you experience any behaviour change or symptoms such as sad mood, hopelessness, feelings of guilt, loss of pleasure or interest in activities, changes in sleep pattern, irritability, or restlessness while taking Epuris (Isotretinoin), contact your doctor immediately. In addition to its desired action, Epuris (Isotretinoin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause difficulty in wearing contact lenses (may continue after treatment is stopped), dry eyes (may continue after treatment is stopped), dry or itchy skin, dry mouth or nose, flaking skin. It may cause increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight, nosebleeds, peeling of skin on palms of hands or soles of feet, stomach upset, thinning of hair (may continue after treatment is stopped). It may cause trouble concentrating, sleep problems, aggression or agitation, changes in behavior, unusual tiredness.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to isotretinoin or any component of the formulation, sensitivity to vitamin A, pregnancy
Taking Epuris (Isotretinoin) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Epuris (Isotretinoin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Epuris (Isotretinoin)
