Description

Ferodan (Ferrous sulfate (Iron)ntains an iron supplement. It is typically used for anemia (low red blood cell count) or as a iron supplement. It may also have other uses.

Ferodan (Ferrous sulfate (Iron) is typically Use only once a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Shake well before use. Take it regularly and continuously to maintain its beneficial effects. To ensure exact dosage, measure each dose with an accurate device, such as an oral dosing syringe. This product is more effective when taken on an empty stomach. However if you experience stomach problems, you may take it with food.
WARNING: As it may irritate the stomach, try to avoid irritating foods such as coffee, spicy food and alcohol. To ensure effectiveness, avoid taking an antacid at the same time. Administer with caution in patients with blood disorders and diseases that primarily affect red blood cells, iron storage or iron absorption disease, existing gastrointestinal disease. Treatment should not be extended beyond 3 months without review.
In addition to its desired action, Ferodan (Ferrous sulfate (Iron) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause constipation (to prevent this, drink plenty of water or juice, and eat more dietary fibre)
It may cause nausea or, rarely, vomiting
It may cause heartburn
It may give stool a black color
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Active peptic ulcer (lesion in the stomach and intestine), patients receiving repeated blood transfusions, regional enteritis (a condition in which the stomach or intestine area is inflamed over a long period of time), ulcerative colitis (abnormal condition, inflammation in the intestine).
Taking Ferodan (Ferrous sulfate (Iron) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Ferodan (Ferrous sulfate (Iron) for the fetus.
