Firmagon (Degarelix) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used for the of advanced prostate cancer. It may also have other uses.

Firmagon (Degarelix) is usually given as one loading dose at first and then once every 28 days. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Firmagon (Degarelix) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: It may cause some allergy reactions, some heart problems and bone weakness. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Firmagon (Degarelix) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain (stomach pain), constipation and eructation (the release of air or gas from the stomach or esophagus through the mouth), swelling and pain at injection site, hot flushes and some liver problems. Contraindications: History of severe allergy to degarelix or any component of the formulation. Taking Firmagon (Degarelix) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Firmagon (Degarelix) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
