Description
Flutamide (Flutamide) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used for the treatment of metastatic (spread) prostate cancer. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Flutamide (Flutamide) is usually given three times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. WARNING: Postmarketing reports of hospitalization and death (rare) due to liver failure have been reported with flutamide. Monitor liver function continuously during treatment. Flutamide is not indicated for use in females and should not be used in females, particularly for non serious or non-life-threatening conditions. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Flutamide (Flutamide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause hot flushes, vomiting, diarrhea and rectal bleeding. It may cause anxiety, confusion, depression, dizziness, drowsiness and headache. It may cause decrease in sexual drive and breast enlargement. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to flutamide or any component of the formulation, severe liver impairment. Taking Flutamide (Flutamide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Flutamide (Flutamide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
