Description
Giotrif (Afatinib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat people with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors express a specific type of gene mutation. It may also have other uses.

Giotrif (Afatinib) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Do not take a missed dose within 12 hours of the next dose. WARNING: Discontinue if severe liver impairment occurs during therapy. Use with caution in patients with a history of severe dry eyes, some eye problems, or who wear contact lenses. Dosage reduction is recommended in patients with severe renal (kidney) impairment In addition to its desired action, Giotrif (Afatinib) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause diarrhea, rash, blisters or other skin lesions or reactions It may cause inflammation of the mouth and lips, chapped lips, mouth sores, infection of the skin around fingernails or toenails It may cause dry skin, acne, decreased appetite, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, itching It may cause urinary tract or bladder infection, bloody nose, runny nose, fever Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to afatinib or to any component of the formulation Taking Giotrif (Afatinib) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Giotrif (Afatinib) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Giotrif (Afatinib)
