Description

Havrix (Hepatitis A vaccine) typically used for the prevention of hepatitis A disease (liver disease caused by a virus).

Additional information

Havrix (Hepatitis A vaccine) is typically taken as a 2-dose series at 0 and 6 to 12 months. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinical setting. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It will be injected into a muscle.
WARNING: Syncope (fainting) has been reported with use of injectable vaccines and may result in serious secondary injury
In addition to its desired action, Havrix (Hepatitis A vaccine) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause diarrhea, drowsiness, fatigue
It may cause fever, generally feeling unwell, headache
It may cause irritability, loss of appetite, muscle or joint achiness
Contraindications: Immediate and/or severe allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to hepatitis A containing vaccines or any component of the formulation, including neomycin.
Taking Havrix (Hepatitis A vaccine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
