Additional information
Hyderm (Hydrocortisone) is typically applied to the affected area in a thin film not more than 2 to 4 times a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Wash your hands after applying the medication. Do not use a non-breathing wrapping on the area where the medication has been applied unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Use Hyderm (Hydrocortisone) for a maximum of 4 weeks. If symptoms persist longer than 7 days, consult your doctor. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: In all cases, the smallest amount of topical hydrocortisone that provides relief should be used for the shortest possible length of time, to avoid unnecessary side effects. Be careful when applying hydrocortisone on lesions near the eye. Wash your hands after applying hydrocortisone and avoid touching your eyes. Do not use Hyderm (Hydrocortisone) to treat itching of the vulva (vaginal lips) that is associated with vaginal discharge. Prolonged use of corticosteroids can cause thinning of the skin, especially on the face, armpits, inner arm, back of the leg, and skin folds. In addition to its desired action, Hyderm (Hydrocortisone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause burning, dryness, irritation, itching, or redness of skin. It may cause increased redness or scaling of skin sores, and skin rash. It may cause the appearance of blood vessels under the surface of the skin, changes in skin color, and excess hair growth. It may cause increased skin sensitivity and skin thinning or softening. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone, other corticosteroids, or any ingredients of the medication. Do not use in case of viral infections such as herpes simplex, or chicken pox, untreated tuberculosis (bacterial infection), fungal, or bacterial infections of the skin. Taking Hyderm (Hydrocortisone) during pregnancy may be harmful to the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.Hyderm (Hydrocortisone)
