Description
Inlyta (Axitinib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat kidney cancer that has spread or cannot be removed by surgery. It may also have other uses.

Inlyta (Axitinib) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Swallow tablet whole with a full glass of water. Take this drug with or without food. WARNING: INLYTA may cause a reduced number of platelets (which help the blood to clot) in the blood, which can make it difficulty to stop cuts from bleeding and may increase your risk of bleeding. INLYTA should be used with caution in patients with a significant risk for hemorrhage (bleeding). This medication can decrease heart function, which may lead to heart failure (when the heart muscle doesn't pump blood as well as it should). INLYTA should be used with caution in patients with bradycardia (a slower than normal heart rate) or who are receiving other heart rate-lowering drugs. In addition to its desired action, Inlyta (Axitinib) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, constipation, cough, decreased appetite, decreased weight, dehydration, diarrhea, dizziness, dry skin, hair loss, headache. It may cause joint pain, muscle pain, nausea, redness of skin, ringing in the ears, shortness of breath, taste disturbance, skin rash. It may cause hypertension (high blood pressure), fatigue, vomiting, decreased thyroid function (gland in your neck), bleeding problems (nosebleed, blood in urine, rectal bleeding, coughing up blood). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to axitinib or any component of the formulation. Taking Inlyta (Axitinib) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Inlyta (Axitinib) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
