Description
Irofer (Iron) is an iron supplement. It is typically used to help form red blood cells and in their proper functions. It is also used to prevent iron deficiency and reduce tiredness and fatigue caused by iron deficiency anemia (a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body’s tissues). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Irofer (Iron) is typically taken as 1 capsule once a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Take it a few hours before and after taking other medications. Take with meals to less stomach pain. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: This drug prevents many other drugs from getting into the body. If you take other drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if you need to take them at some other time than this drug. The administration of iron for more than 6 months should be avoided except in patients with continuous bleeding or menorrhagia (a heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding). In addition to its desired action, Irofer (Iron) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause constipation, diarrhea, stomach cramps, or upset stomach. It may cause your stools to turn black. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to iron salts or any component of the formulation, hemochromatosis (a disorder in which extra iron builds up in the body to harmful levels), hemolytic anemia (a disorder in which red blood cells are destroyed faster than they can be made). Taking Irofer (Iron) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Irofer (Iron) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.Irofer (Iron)
