Description
Jalyn (Dutasteride Tamsulosin) is an antiandrogenic agent. It is typically used for the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia or prostate enlargement. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Jalyn (Dutasteride Tamsulosin) is typically given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer 30 min after the meal. WARNING: Rarely, patients with a sulfa allergy have also developed an allergic reaction to tamsulosin, avoid use when previous reaction has been severe. Diminished urinary flow: Carefully monitor patients with a large residual urinary volume or severely diminished urinary flow for obstructive uropathy (when your urine can't flow, either partially or completely), these patients may not be candidates for dutasteride therapy. Initiation of tamsulosin therapy in patients with planned cataract (medical condition in which the lens of the eye becomes progressively opaque, resulting in blurred vision glaucoma) surgery is not recommended. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) impairment. Other urological diseases, including prostate cancer, should be ruled out before initiating therapy. Avoid donating blood during or for 6 months following treatment cessation due to risk of administration to a transfusion recipient who is pregnant. Patients should be cautioned about performing hazardous tasks when starting new therapy or adjusting dosage upward since they might experience decrease in their blood pressure. Patients on a dutasteride with any increase in PSA levels (protein produced by normal, as well as cancer cells of the prostate gland, even if within normal limits, should be evaluated, may indicate presence of prostate cancer). These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Jalyn (Dutasteride Tamsulosin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause decrease in libido (the energy of the sexual drive), impotence, breast enlargement, ejaculation disorder and dizziness. Contraindications: Clinically significant hypersensitivity (e.g., serious skin reactions, angioedema (water retention), urticaria (reddened, itchy welts), pruritus, respiratory symptoms) to dutasteride, tamsulosin, other 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (similar agents), or any component of the formulation, pregnancy. Taking Jalyn (Dutasteride Tamsulosin) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.
