Description
Lasix Special (Furosemide) is a water pill (diuretic). It is typically used as an aid in the treatment of conditions such as kidney disease, low urine production, edema (water retention), acute/chronic kidney failure before starting on dialysis and once on dialysis for patients with water in their lungs (pulmonary edema). It may also have other uses.

Lasix Special (Furosemide)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. The maximum daily dose is 1000 mg. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the whole tablet. Lasix special is to be used under strict medical supervision in a hospital setting. It is a high dose medication intended exclusively for patients with severely impaired kidney function. WARNING: This medication is a strong diuretic (water pill). It can lead to a profound water loss and electrolyte depletion. Use with caution in patients with diabetes as it may increase blood sugar levels, and in patients with prostate hyperplasia (enlargement of the prostate) or bladder neck obstruction, may cause urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder). In addition to its desired action, Lasix Special (Furosemide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause hearing loss or ringing in the ear (ototoxicity), kidney injury due to fluid loss, or electrolyte depletion (low blood levels of calcium, potassium, or magnesium). It may cause an increase in blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down). It may cause diarrhea, constipation, nausea, or vomiting. It may cause thirst, dry mouth, or blurred vision. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Furosemide or any component of the formulation. Do not use in case of anuria (failure of the kidneys to produce urine). Taking Lasix Special (Furosemide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Lasix Special (Furosemide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
