Description
Latuda (Lurasidone) is an antipsychotic agent. It is usually used to treat schizophrenia (a chronic mental disorder that affects your emotions, thinking, and behavior) by adults and teenagers who are at least 13 years old. It may also have other uses.

Latuda (Lurasidone) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer this drug consistently at the same time every day with food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. Use with caution in patients with dementia (a general term for the impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interferes with doing everyday activities). Use with caution in patients at risk of seizures (a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain). In addition to its desired action, Latuda (Lurasidone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, increased glucose level. It may cause nausea, vomiting, high blood pressure, abdominal pain. It may cause weight gain, urinary tract infection. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to lurasidone or any component of the formulation, concomitant use with some medications (ketoconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir, voriconazole, mibefradi, rifampin, St. John’s wort, phenytoin, carbamazepine). Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, or breastfeeding contact your family doctor. A treatment with Latuda (Lurasidone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
