Description

Locacorten Vioform (Clioquinol Flumethasone) is an anti-infective agent (used to prevent or treat infection). It is typically used for the relief of external ear inflammation and infections (otitis externa) and fungal infections of the outer ear (otomycosis). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Locacorten Vioform (Clioquinol Flumethasone) is typically used two to three times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Gently clear excess wax and debris from your ear. Lie down or tilt your head so that the affected ear faces up. Gently pull the ear lobe up and back for adults (down and back for children) to straighten the ear canal. Instill the drops into the ear canal and keep the ear facing up for about 5 minutes to allow the medication to reach the bottom of the ear canal.
WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. Use with caution in patients with thyroid (gland in the neck) abnormalities.
In addition to its desired action, Locacorten Vioform (Clioquinol Flumethasone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause burning, dryness, irritation, itching, or redness or skin.
It may cause secondary infection.
It may cause skin rash, change in skin color.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to clioquinol, or any component of the formulation, pre-existing tuberculosis of the skin (skin infection), or viral infections of the skin, application to eyes, application to ulcerated areas (open sore on the skin), suspected or verified perforation of eardrum (the membrane that separates the outer and middle parts of the ear and vibrates when sound waves strike it), use in children <2 years of age. Taking Locacorten Vioform (Clioquinol Flumethasone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
