Description
Lupin Estradiol (Estradiol) is a hormonal agent. It is typically used to treat menopause symptoms such as hot flushes and vaginal changes, and to prevent osteoporosis (bone loss) in menopausal women, and to replace estrogen in women with ovarian failure or other conditions that cause a lack of natural estrogen in the body. It may also have other uses.

Lupin Estradiol (Estradiol) is typically used once daily for 21 to 25 days of each month for the treatment of menopause symptoms. Attempts to lower the dose or discontinue the medication should be made every 3 to 6 months. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer at the same time each day. Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach. WARNING: This medication should be used at the lowest dose that relieves your menopausal symptoms for the shortest time period possible. You should not use estrogens with or without progestins (other hormonal agents) to prevent heart disease, heart attacks, or strokes. Some women taking Lupin Estradiol (Estradiol) have reported increased blood pressure. Your doctor should monitor your blood pressure if you are using estrogen, especially if high doses are used. Estrogens can cause changes in blood glucose (blood sugar) control for people who have diabetes or have risk factors for developing diabetes. Use with caution. In addition to its desired action, Lupin Estradiol (Estradiol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause acne, bloating, breast pain or tenderness It may cause changes in sex drive, fatigue, hair loss, or stomach cramps It may cause changes in cholesterol levels, dark patches on the face, vaginal itching, discharge, or pain It may cause migraine, headaches, moodswings, nausea, or weight changes Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to estradiol or any component of the formulation. Do not use if you: are breastfeeding, are or may be pregnant, have a known or suspected estrogen-dependent tumor (cancer that depends on estrogen to grow), have endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of the lining of the uterus), have had a blockage in an artery feeding the heart caused by a blood clot (coronary thrombosis), have had a stroke, have had diseases of circulation or clotting, have had partial or complete loss of vision or double-vision from eye disease related to circulation problems, have liver impairment or disease, have or have had breast cancer or endometrial cancer, except in special circumstances, or have undiagnosed vaginal bleeding. Taking Lupin Estradiol (Estradiol) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Hormonal contraceptives are used to prevent pregnancy, treatment should be discontinued if pregnancy occurs. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
