Description
Mar Allopurinol (Allopurinol) is an antigout agent. It is typically used for the treatment of gout (severe pain, tenderness, redness, and inflammation of the joints) and the prevention of recurrent calcium stones and tumor lysis syndrome (when cancer cells release large amounts of potassium, phosphate, and nucleic acids in the blood). It may also have other uses.

Mar Allopurinol (Allopurinol) is typically used once daily in a single dose or in 2 or 3 divided doses. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer after meals. Tumor lysis syndrome prevention: Administer aggressive fluids sufficient to maintain adequate hydration and urinary output, whenever possible, allopurinol therapy should be initiated 24 to 48 hours before the start of chemotherapy (and other treatments) known to cause tumor lysis WARNING: Dose reductions are recommended in patients with renal (kidney) impairment In addition to its desired action, Mar Allopurinol (Allopurinol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause skin rash It may cause changes in normal bowel habits It may cause nausea, vomiting It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache Contraindications: Severe hypersensitivity reaction to allopurinol or any component of the formulation. Taking Mar Allopurinol (Allopurinol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
