Description

Matulane (Procarbazine) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used with other cancer medications to treat Hodgkin’s Disease (a type of blood cancer). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Matulane (Procarbazine)'s dosage depends on the condition/body weight. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with a full glass of water, with or without food.

WARNING: Avoid drinking alcohol while using Matulane (Procarbazine) and for a few days after stopping the medication. Drinking alcohol while using procarbazine can lead to unpleasant symptoms such as nausea, flushing, racing heartbeat, and feelings of faintness. Use Matulane (Procarbazine) with caution in patients with liver or kidney problems.

In addition to its desired action, Matulane (Procarbazine) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause edema (swelling), hypotension (low blood pressure), tachycardia (a heart rate that’s too fast).
It may cause confusion, depression, dizziness, hair loss, changes in blood cell counts.
It may cause nausea, vomiting, hypersensitivity reaction.

Contraindications: If you are allergic to procarbazine or to any of the ingredients of the medication, if you have severe depletion of neutrophils (white blood cells, which are disease-fighting cells), platelets (platelets help the blood to clot, and a shortage could make you bleed more easily), or red blood cells (cells that deliver oxygen to organs).

Taking Matulane (Procarbazine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. 

A treatment with Matulane (Procarbazine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Matulane (Procarbazine)
